Ir a un café es como jugar al ajedrez. En él puedes encontrar peones, caballos, algunos torres, cazadores, damas y otras trebejos. Cada noche presenta un duelo especial. Bueno, ayer llegué alrededor de las 11 en punto, veo, todas las trebejos aquí. Los peones están sentados como de costumbre, y los caballos, torres y cazadores están todos esparcidos en la barra y charlando. Me detengo en la barra con la señora, le guiño el ojo al cantinero y justo cuando estoy a punto de pedir un trago, veo a un cazador a mi derecha. En tal caso, un jugador débil puede atacar al caballo y ser golpeado medio muerto, encorvado por la derrota, y eso es una pérdida del juego, lo que significa jaque mate, naturalmente. La segunda opción que me vino a la mente es el enroque, pero para eso necesito un cazador. Y el mío cazador tuvo partidas simultáneas de ajedrez con dos damas esa misma noche. Entonces, como esta variante también falló, me siento impotente, muevo una casilla alrededor de la dama, es decir, me pongo en posición de jaque y espero un posible error para consolidar filas y, si es posible, eventualmente obtener tablas. Con la mala disposición de las piezas como iban las cosas, lo más probable es que hubiera perdido esta partida si no hubiera sido por la necesidad de orinar de los peones y la torre, y yo, mi amigo, puedo jugar en contra un caballo en cualquier momento, y él nunca me puede dar jaque mate, jamás. Therefore, never organize an attack against knights and rooks without supporting pieces. Never. Because they can beat the out of you and take your game, and that is checkmate.
