The “ City of Caves” , on an in the Sea Of Oman close to Mumbai.
It is an Unesco Heritage.
The Elephanta Caves are situated in Western India in the Elephanta Island ( know as Island of Gharapuri). Two hilloks separated by a narrow valley.
On the small island are a lot of ancient archaelogical remains, wich prove a rich cultural past from the 2nd century BC.
The rock-cut Elephanta cave constructed about the mid -5th or 6th centuries AD.
There are a collection of rock art linked to the cult of Shiva.
